This is not a picture of me crossing the finish line...

... it is a picture of Ollie playing the drums - his new favorite pass time.  BUT there WILL be a photo of me crossing the finish line, because I did, in fact, finish the Scotiabank Half Marathon on Sunday!

I'm embarrassed to say stuff like this, but I'm proud of myself. I don't always finish things. Lots of times I set a goal, and then instead of putting in the work or time or energy I just decide it wasn't a worthy goal in the first place. I definitely could have done that with this run. Heck - is it really a worthy goal? What is the point of running to the point of exhaustion and knee pain?

But I wanted to do this run with my Dad, and I wanted to prove to myself that I could really take on a physical challenge. And I did it. I finished in 2 hours and 23 minutes, which is decent (and should be considered a little more time than I needed, since it includes a ten minute wait in the line for a port-o-potty at 3k).

And I really could have got out of this one. I had an ace in the hole. My training in the last three weeks was seriously disrupted by some tiredness and some nausea. Because, also, I'm pregnant.

  1. OMG! I read the first part of this post from your twitter feed a few days ago and was so happy for you. However, I waited until I had time to read the whole post before commenting.

And then I read the last sentence.

And I squeeled out loud at work (and now everyone knows I'm not actually doing work...).

And OMG! SO SO SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS! Congratulations!!!!

  2. Sweetest reaction! (including family).. sorry if you got busted for blog surfing at work, but thanks for your enthusiasm!!
